Paul Pogba Reveals What He Told Captain Rooney Before His Machester United Penalty Against Fenerbahçe.

 

Paul Pogba has paid ‘big respect’ to Wayne Rooney for letting him take Manchester United’s opening penalty in the 4-1 win over Fenerbahce. 

The £89 million man stepped up to take the spot kick after Simon Kjaer fouled Juan Mata in the box to open the scoring for his side. 

Pogba went on to score a second goal as United cruised to their second win a row in the Europa League and the 23-year-old revealed he and usual penalty take Rooney had a little chat before it was decided who would take on the responsibility. 




‘I told him (Rooney) I wanted to take it and he let me take it.
‘I am very happy to score that penalty.
‘For a player like him, Wayne Rooney, the captain, just to let me take the penalty, it’s a big respect, so I’m very glad for that.’
